Wednesday 6th Feb - Day 1

Ok so its day one on the Cambridge Diet... for those who dont know it is a meal replacement diet where i have 3 shakes/soups/bar instead of my normal meals. This is a diet which works fast as my body will use my fat as its primary energy source, hopefully!

Why am I doing it? Well, my weight has been creeping up and up for the past 2 years and I seem to fail at any other diet/ healthy eating regime so I thought it best to eliminate food altogether.

I have previously tried Lighter Life but begrudged paying £70 a week, this included the counselling session as well as the actual diet packs. BUT most of the session was sitting around waiting for all of the other ladies to be weighed. Then the 'counselling' session was just read from a text book... mmm not much training required for the counsellor!

The Lighter life diet packs also come in very limited flavours, but C.D has soooo many to choose from. So definitely an added bonus!

Also, this diet is half the price as no such counselling is offered, simply a 15 minute appointment with your 'counsellor' whereby you discuss the week and also purchase the diet packs.

So day one and already I am wondering why i waited so long... Today I weigh 14,2 and need to get down to the 10's. So you could say I am pretty large at the mo, with a BMI of 36!!!

I have purchased a smoothie maker and i found the 'shaker' provided does not get rid of all the lumps of mix. I have had a banana shake for breakfast and a choc mint shake for lunch. Both made in the smoothie maker with water/ice and both DELICIOUS!

I will be having Leek and Potato soup for tea.

Much much better than any lighter life shakes. So, so far so good... Fingers crossed...

I am also glugging my way through 4l of water, 2 down 2 to go. The water is essential for getting rid of the fat which my body will break down whilst i am ketosis (think atkins diet if you are not sure of this process, basically no carbs = body uses fat for energy = ketosis).

My goals are to get into the 10's for a holiday in June and another in July. I hope that this blog will keep me motivated. Please feel free to comment/ contact me or simply offer advice.
